Privacy Policy

What we collect, how we use it, advertising, and your rights.

Last updated: April 19, 2026

VerseDay (“we”, “our”, or “us”) operates the VerseDay mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, share, and protect personal data when you use the App.

Overview

VerseDay is designed to work without mandatory registration. Signing in is optional, and the data we request is limited to what is necessary to provide the App, keep your data updated across devices, manage subscriptions, show ads in the free version, and comply with legal obligations.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

When you use VerseDay, we may collect:

  • Account information: If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address (or Apple’s private relay email, if you choose that option).
  • Internal account identifier: If you do not sign in, we generate a random internal identifier (UUID or similar) to associate your progress with your device or app session. We treat this identifier as pseudonymized personal data.
  • Support communications: If you contact us, we may process the information you include in your message.
  • Usage and content data: Data needed to provide the App, such as liked or disliked verses, reading streaks, vote history, search history, app preferences, and Bible/language selections.

Information Collected Automatically

We may automatically collect or generate:

  • Device type, operating system, app version, and technical diagnostics
  • Timezone and locale settings
  • Push notification permission status and notification settings
  • App usage statistics and interaction events
  • Advertising identifiers and ad interaction data where applicable
  • Subscription and Premium access status
  • Search interaction analytics, which may include the search terms used inside the App

Subscription and Premium Data

If you purchase, restore, or use Premium features, we and our processors may handle data such as:

  • Internal account identifiers used to link a purchase to your app profile
  • Purchase history and transaction status
  • Product purchased, app store used, Premium access status, expiration, and renewal information
  • Subscription support records, purchase status updates, and records needed to keep Premium access accurate
  • Verification records needed to confirm Premium access, restore purchases, resolve access issues, and comply with deletion or audit obligations

Shared Content

The App allows you to generate verse images on your device. These images are created locally and are not uploaded or stored on our servers unless you separately send them to us yourself. We do not review or control content you share from your device.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services. They may process personal data according to their own role and privacy terms.

RevenueCat

We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions, confirm Premium access, restore purchases, keep subscription status updated, and support subscription-related account deletion requests.

Depending on the situation, RevenueCat and our systems may process:

  • Internal account identifiers used to link subscriptions to your app profile
  • Subscription status and Premium access information
  • Purchase history, product information, and app store used
  • Renewal, expiration, refund, cancellation, and billing status information
  • Purchase status updates and verification records needed to keep Premium access accurate

For the end-user data we send to RevenueCat, we act as the data controller and RevenueCat acts as our data processor/service provider. RevenueCat may process data in the United States and through its infrastructure and subprocessors. For more information, see:

Apple App Store and Google Play

If you purchase a subscription, payment is processed by Apple or Google through your Apple ID or Google Play account. We do not receive your full payment card details. Apple and Google also manage parts of the subscription lifecycle under their own terms and privacy policies, including billing, renewals, cancellation, refunds, and certain store-side records. Deleting your VerseDay account does not cancel an active subscription in your store account.

Firebase Analytics

We use Firebase Analytics to understand general usage of the App, measure screens and events, troubleshoot issues, improve features, and evaluate product quality. This may include a pseudonymized user ID, app language, premium status, screen views, actions in the App, search activity or search terms used inside the App, and related analytics or diagnostic events. The current version of the App does not yet offer a dedicated in-app privacy control for this analytics processing. We will update this section if that changes. See Google’s Privacy Policy.

Google Sign-In

If you sign in with Google, Google provides us with your name and email address. See Google’s Privacy Policy.

Sign in with Apple

If you sign in with Apple, Apple provides us with your name and email address, or a private relay email if you choose to hide your address. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Advertising and Consent Tools

We use Google Ads / Google Mobile Ads in the free version of the App. Google may process advertising identifiers, IP address, device information, consent status, and ad interaction data. We also use Google’s consent tooling to determine whether personalized ads may be requested where applicable. Where required by platform rules, we may request tracking-related permission on iOS before enabling tracking or personalized advertising. If tracking is not allowed, ads may be limited or non-personalized where supported. If you subscribe to Premium, ads are removed from the premium experience.

For more information, see Google’s Advertising Policies.

How We Use Your Information

We use personal data to:

  • Provide and maintain the App
  • Keep your data updated across devices
  • Manage subscriptions, confirm or restore Premium access, and provide Premium features
  • Measure product usage and improve the App
  • Show ads in the free version and measure ad performance
  • Manage notification permissions and send reminders if you enable them
  • Detect abuse, fraud, subscription inconsistencies, and security incidents
  • Respond to support, access, export, correction, or deletion requests
  • Comply with legal, tax, accounting, consumer protection, and record-keeping obligations

Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, we process personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Performance of a contract: To provide the App, keep account data updated across devices, confirm Premium access, restore purchases, and manage your account.
  • Consent: For optional notifications and, where required by applicable law or platform rules, for personalized advertising, tracking-related permissions, or other processing that must rely on consent.
  • Legitimate interests and, where required by law, consent: To secure the App, detect fraud, prevent abuse, maintain subscription integrity, understand general product usage, troubleshoot problems, improve the service, keep audit records, and handle support.
  • Legal obligation: Where we must retain or disclose certain information to comply with applicable law.

International Transfers

Some of our service providers, including RevenueCat and Google/Firebase services, may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as contractual protections or the provider’s applicable transfer mechanisms.

Data Retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described above.

In practice, this means:

  • Account and progress data: Kept while your account or app profile remains active and for a limited time afterwards where needed for recovery, dispute resolution, fraud prevention, or deletion completion.
  • Subscription and premium records: This may include subscription verification records, purchase status updates, restore records, and support records kept for as long as needed to manage Premium access, support users, respond to billing issues, and comply with legal obligations.
  • Payment and store records: Apple and Google may separately retain transaction, billing, refund, tax, or compliance records under their own policies and legal obligations.
  • Deletion workflow, suppression, audit, and security records: When you request account deletion, we start a workflow intended to complete the deletion or anonymization of operational account data and archived content linked to your profile within up to 30 days. Minimal suppression, security, compliance, billing, fraud-prevention, or dispute-resolution records may remain where necessary.
  • Analytics data: Retained according to our operational needs and the configuration of the analytics provider.

When you request account deletion, we delete or anonymize operational account data from our systems within that workflow, remove local records used to link Premium access to your account where applicable, and initiate the corresponding RevenueCat deletion workflow for the identifiers associated with your VerseDay account or app profile where applicable. However, minimal records may remain where necessary for legal compliance, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, audit purposes, or to evidence that a deletion request was processed. Apple, Google, and other providers may separately retain records under their own policies and legal obligations.

Your Rights

Under applicable data protection law, you may have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate personal data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Request restriction of processing
  • Object to certain processing
  • Request portability where applicable
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected]. You may also lodge a complaint with the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos (AEPD) or with the supervisory authority in the EEA country where you live or work.

How to Delete Your Account

You can delete your account at any time from the App:

  1. Go to Settings
  2. Tap “Account”
  3. Tap “Delete Account”

When you delete your account:

  • We start a workflow intended to complete the deletion or anonymization of the operational account data and archived content linked to your VerseDay profile within up to 30 days
  • We remove related records used to verify and link Premium access in our systems where applicable
  • We initiate a deletion request in RevenueCat for the identifiers associated with your account where applicable
  • Minimal suppression, audit, security, compliance, deletion workflow, billing, dispute-resolution, or store-side records may remain if required

Important: Deleting your VerseDay account does not automatically cancel an active subscription in Apple App Store or Google Play. You must cancel the subscription separately in your store account settings to stop future charges.

Children’s Privacy

VerseDay is not directed to children under 14. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 14. If you believe a child has provided personal data to us, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.

Security

We use commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal data. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Subscriptions

VerseDay offers auto-renewable subscriptions that remove ads and unlock Premium features. Core functionality remains available without a subscription.

  • Monthly subscription: Billed monthly
  • Annual subscription: Billed annually
  • Trials or introductory offers: If offered, the exact duration, price, and renewal terms shown in the App or store at the time of purchase apply

Payment is charged by Apple or Google at purchase confirmation. Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. You can manage and cancel subscriptions from your Apple ID or Google Play account settings.

Subscription management in the App relies on Apple App Store / Google Play for billing and on RevenueCat to confirm purchases, restore them, and keep Premium access up to date. Availability of monthly, annual, trial, or promotional offers may vary by platform, region, and store account. Restoring Premium or using it across devices may require the same store account and the same VerseDay account or app profile used for the original purchase.

How to Cancel

  • iOS: Settings > your Apple ID > Subscriptions > VerseDay
  • Android: Google Play Store > Menu > Subscriptions > VerseDay

Refunds

Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies:
